Early 60's jobs in the streets of Istanbul; street hawker w a scale invites everyone "let me measure your height and weight all automatically", the other one measures your blood pressure, the one in the corner sells used prescription eye glasses, used teeth set. Late in the evening in his trolley he sells brewed tea and baked dough w sesame (simit) or rice w garbonzo beans w diluted yogurt (ayran). Easter days red painted eggs on wheel barrows, summer time fresh cucumber. He peels it and add salt, one may want to have slice of watermelon or a cone of icecream instead. Gypsies wrestle with their bears, monkeys and collect money. Late in the nite they get together at bachelors apartment in tens. As the saying goes "Istanbul's soil and stone were all gold" Now, it is Gsm and Internet time. I really wonder how these will transform in the due course? will they order food w their phone watch movie online, video chat w loved ones w ?
60 li yillarin basinda Istanbulun sokaklarinda boyunu olcen, kilonu tartan, tansiyonunu olcenler vardi. Istanbul'un tasi topragi altin denirdi herkes icin.
